Alpha Zeta Work Trip
We're discussing a possible national service project in the Gulf Coast. Transportation from the National Office would be provided and I'm looking into getting housing and meals provided. The group would work through a relief agency, but ideally, it will seek to assist AZ members, their families, farms or rural areas affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The four- to five-day trip would be in mid-December or early January. [ Comments ]

Membership applications and payment should be received 10 business days before initiation, or your chapter will be subject to a $5 per application late fee and express shipping charges. Building a successful
Alpha Zeta Chapter

  • Focus time and effort at a place/method where the greatest success is likely.
  • Primary motivation for anyone to become a member is WIIFM (What's in it for me). Define the WIIFM and promote it.
  • Create awareness and interest by delivering on promises.
  • Before pride can exist, the characteristics of significance, accomplishment and distinction must be present.

Member Recruitment Tips

  • Cast a wide net. Host an informal informational event (with food). Invite all ag students.
  • Invite those qualified and interested in joining Alpha Zeta back for a more formal event.
  • Don't limit your chapter to specific disciplines. Be inclusive.
  • Ask permission to send a letter under the dean's signature to prospective members.
